Kei Kobayashi R2 Special Finished OK8BYW
Kei Kobayashi R2 Special Finished Knives are made with a core of SG2 (Super Gold 2 or R2) micro carbide powder stainless steel, one of the hardest blade steel in the world, sandwiched between a layer of softer stainless for ease of sharpening.
The blade provides excellent rust resistance and a long-lasting edge as well as its beautifulness.
Moreover, the hairline finished blade with skilled Kobayashi's technique provides sharper edge than that by other craftspersons, and the blade insertion point into the handle is --- sometimes undervalued and overlooked --- nicely finished to keep beautility.
The handles on these knives are Half Rounded Octagonal Oak wood dyed Japanese Lacquered (Urushi) that recalls the images of Japanese tradition.
